When is a one-day vignette worth buying?
A one-day vignette is worthwhile if you use a tolled section of a Czech motorway on just one day, for example for a trip to Prague, a journey to the airport, or a one-off transit through the Czech Republic. This type of vignette was introduced in 2024 for drivers who use motorways only occasionally. If you use tolled sections on two different days, two one-day vignettes may cost more than a single 10-day vignette. It is therefore worth comparing both options before purchasing.
Valid only until midnight on the day you choose
A one-day vignette is tied to a specific calendar day and is valid from 00:00 to 23:59 on the selected date, regardless of the time of purchase. For example, if you buy a one-day vignette at 11:00 with validity for that same day, you can use it only until 23:59, not for a full 24 hours. For a return journey the following morning, you will need another vignette. Therefore, pay particular attention to the validity period when departing late, travelling at night, or making journeys that continue into the following day.
How to pick the right day of validity
Choose the day you plan to use a vignette-required motorway as the start date of validity. The start of validity can be set up to 30 days in advance, so you can purchase the vignette well before your journey. If your journey continues past midnight or you return the following day, a one-day vignette will not cover your entire trip.
